St. Vincent de Paul Society
The All Saints St. Vincent de Paul Society is part of the parish’s social ministry. The Society is open to volunteers who are interested in serving people in need. This ministry is one of the ways that the parish helps serve the need of the poor. A group of dedicated volunteers operate All Saints St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Food Pantry Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Rent and Utility Assistance is now being processed on Mondays from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Some of the ways our volunteers help is to coordinate food orders from the Houston Food Bank, keep the pantry shelves stocked and work with clients (“friends”). Volunteers also deliver groceries to friends who are physically unable to come to the pantry.
Donations of non-perishable food items including canned goods, bread, eggs, cereal, rice, beans, pasta, etc., as well as toiletry items such as soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. can be dropped off at the pantry itself during hours of operation or through the parish office. There are also designated baskets in the church for drop-off. These will all be included as part of the food distribution to the needy. Monetary support is also appreciated and can be made through the parish office.
You are welcome to visit the pantry yourself to witness the Lord’s work. The Food Pantry is located N.E. of the church in the little, yellow house at 1035 Cortlandt St.
"Our main purpose is not merely to help the poor- this is but a means to an end. Our true aim is to preserve in ourselves the Catholic Faith in all its purity and to communicate it to others through the channels of charity. Charity teaches us that when we visit the poor we gain more than they do." Frederic Ozanam
