Feast of St. Joseph

     Many years ago, a severe famine struck the island of Sicily causing extreme suffering and starvation across the country. The farming communities were most devastated.

         The faithful in their great despair reached out in prayer to St. Joseph: the guardian of families. The famine soon ended and the tradition of celebrating with gratitude St. Joseph on March 19th with an altar of their agricultural bounties began in homes and parish churches.

         All Saints Community is preparing to continue this beautiful tradition with an altar offered to St. Joseph including a dinner and a customary children’s presentation. There are many ways for you and your family to participate in this celebration: baking, cooking, serving, contributing items for the altar, and more.

        All the proceeds and bounty of the altar will benefit our St. Vincent de Paul Society in their service to those in need, as is the tradition.

        Hace muchos años, una hambruna severa golpeó la isla de Sicilia causando sufrimiento extremo y hambruna en todo el país. Las comunidades agrícolas fueron las más devastadas.

        Los fieles en su gran desesperación se acercaron en oración a San José: el guardián de las familias. La hambruna pronto terminó y comenzó la tradición de celebrar con gratitud a San José el 19 de marzo con un altar de sus bondades agrícolas en los hogares e iglesias parroquiales.

        La Comunidad de Todos los Santos se prepara para continuar con esta hermosa tradición con un altar ofrecido a San José que incluye una cena y una presentación infantil habitual. Hay muchas maneras para que usted y su familia participen en esta celebración: hornear, cocinar, servir, contribuir con artículos para el altar y más.

        Todo lo recaudado y la generosidad del altar beneficiarán a nuestra Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl en su servicio a los necesitados, como es tradición.
